Decking was choosen for this project as a suitable material to level up an area with a steep gradient. Wood is a natural product which means it generally fits into lots of different surroundings. Small gaps are left between the boards to allow for natural expansion and contraction that occurs when the wood becomes wet and dry.

This decking area was designed and constructed by our landscapers in Preston Lancashire as part of a community social area.

Here we used a treated, green decking board. This means it is more durable against the elements and gives the finished product a longer shelf life. There had to be rails built on the edging to make the height of the deck safe. We used plane, squared off spindels with a plane rail on top. At the bottom end (the access end) we made the area accessable for everyone by installing a ramp using concrete flags. This made the ramp level with no trip hazards.
The outcome of this build was very successful, and the area is enjoyed by the community.
